About Me

multimedia journalist covering the environment, food systems, sustainable business, and more

A multi-disciplinary reporter, I've written and photographed for national and international publications, nonprofits, and local news outlets for more than a decade, covering a wide range of topics including agriculture, conservation, outdoor recreation, local economic development, sustainable business, and social finance. Lately, I'm exploring the ways everyday people all over the world are affected by (and responding to) environmental degradation and climate change. I'm currently working on stories reported (before Covid) in Mongolia, Colombia, Appalachia, and California, and as soon as international borders re-open for Americans, I will begin an Overseas Press Club fellowship at the Wall Street Journal's Hong Kong bureau.

When I'm not writing, you'll find me on my bike, racing around a velodrome or riding in the Oakland, CA hills.
