About Me

journalist covering the environment, science, small business, and more

As both a writer and photographer, I've worked with national and international publications, nonprofits, and local news outlets for more than a decade, covering a wide range of topics including agriculture, conservation, outdoor recreation, local economic development, sustainable business, and social finance. Lately, I'm exploring the ways everyday people all over the world are affected by and responding to environmental degradation and climate change. A recipient of the 2020 Overseas Press Club Fellowship (with placement at the Wall Street Journal's science bureau delayed until 2021) and graduate of UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, I am currently working from Vancouver, WA / Portland, OR. My other obsessions include birding, bicycles, and DIY home renovation.
